Family is everything — and every season of life deserves to be documented. As a Southwest Minnesota photographer, I specialize in capturing natural, genuine family moments filled with connection, personality, and emotion. Whether your children are little, grown, or somewhere in between, these moments matter.
Family sessions can take place outdoors at beautiful locations throughout Western and Southwestern Minnesota, including local favorites like Lagoon Park in Montevideo, Lac qui Parle State Park, Granite Falls, Marshall, Willmar, Benson, Glenwood, Morris and surrounding rural landscapes. When Minnesota weather has other plans, indoor family sessions are also available in my Montevideo photography studio, perfect for timeless, relaxed portraits year-round.
Family sessions are designed to create a mix of posed portraits and candid moments, preserving the love and connection that make your family unique.

At Novel Images, cake smash sessions are designed to capture your little one’s personality in a fun, relaxed studio setting. As a Minnesota cake smash photographer, I focus on creating timeless, natural images that highlight those sweet expressions, messy frosting moments, and all the little details you never want to forget.
These first birthday photo sessions are styled with a simple, classic setup so your child remains the center of attention. Whether they dive right into the cake or take their time exploring, every session is guided in a way that feels easy, playful, and stress-free.
Cake smash sessions are best suited for babies turning one year old, and are typically scheduled around their first birthday.

Maternity sessions at Novel Images are designed to capture this fleeting chapter in a natural, timeless way. As a Minnesota maternity photographer, I focus on creating soft, emotional images that celebrate your strength, your beauty, and the connection already forming between you and your baby.
These sessions are relaxed and guided, allowing you to feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. Whether you come on your own or bring your partner or children for a few moments, the focus always remains on you and this incredible journey into motherhood.
Maternity photography sessions are best scheduled between 28–34 weeks, when your belly is beautifully round and you’re still feeling comfortable enough to move and pose with ease.
Because this season is short… but the memories deserve to last forever.

The first days with your newborn are a blur of tiny details—soft skin, sleepy stretches, and the quiet moments you never want to forget.
At Novel Images, newborn photography is done in a natural, lifestyle approach. As a Minnesota newborn photographer, I focus on capturing your baby just as they are—no stiff posing, no complicated setups—just genuine, heartfelt moments that tell the beginning of your story.
These sessions are calm, baby-led, and allow plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and settling. With a simple, timeless style, your images will focus on connection, emotion, and all those little features that change so quickly in the first weeks of life.
Newborn sessions are best scheduled within the first 5–14 days after birth, when babies are still sleepy and naturally curl into those sweet, relaxed positions. After this stage, babies become more alert, and sessions shift into a more interactive baby-focused session rather than a traditional newborn session.
Because they won’t stay this little for long… and these are the moments you’ll wish you could hold onto forever.

Sitter Sessions are one of my absolute favorite milestones to photograph. This stage—typically around 6 to 9 months old—is when your baby is full of personality, big smiles, and just starting to sit up independently. It’s that sweet spot between newborn and toddler where their little expressions really start to shine.
At Novel Images, my sitter sessions are designed to be simple, timeless, and focused entirely on your baby. No complicated props or stiff posing—just natural, organic moments that capture who they are right now. These sessions are perfect for documenting those chunky cheeks, bright eyes, and all the tiny details that change way too fast.
Sitter sessions take place in my downtown studio in Montevideo, Minnesota and are ideal for babies who can sit up on their own but aren’t quite crawling yet. I offer a clean, neutral setup with soft, painterly editing that keeps your images classic and true to life.

At Novel Images, each session is styled to be timeless, natural, and focused on connection and personality. From the anticipation of your maternity session to those sleepy newborn snuggles, the sweet sitter stage, and finally celebrating with a cake smash, this bundle tells your baby’s full first-year story.
When booked individually, these sessions total $1,650. When you bundle, you receive all four sessions for $1,300, saving $350—making it the perfect option for families who want to plan ahead while getting the most value.
